Episode #141 - For Taylor Hawkins

This episode starts off on a somber note as we take a moment to reflect on the untimely passing of one of the greatest drummers of all time, Taylor Hawkins. I am glad that I was able to see the Foo Fighters in 2018 because the reality of them ever playing a show again is likely very low. I wouldn’t feel any ill will towards them if that was the case. Taylor Hawkins was a very key member to that band & nobody will ever be able to fill that void both musically or professionally. I feel genuinely gutted for Dave, the Foo Fighters family & of course Taylor’s family. Life isn’t fair & I think it’s a reminder to tell those close to you that you love them because tomorrow isn’t guaranteed.

Episode #138 - Cat Hospice

Uncle Bobby

So last week I bleeped out what my jam was because I wasn’t sure if I was allowed to make the new public. However I got the go ahead last weekend so now I can tell you all that I am going to be an Uncle! I am pretty stoked about the opportunity as I was fortunate enough to have 3 really cool Uncles growing up. No secret that my Uncle Kevin is the reason I decided to pick up a guitar & start writing songs or why you listeners are subjected to a year of KISS Trivia. My Uncle Jeff has always taken an interest in my music & gone out of his way to bring me along on cool experiences he has with his kids. Finally my Uncle Brad is one of nicest guys you will ever meet & though he’s not perfect he has giving me a lot of great advice over the years. I hope that I can live up that support that I was lucky to have as a child & continue to have as an adult. It feels kind of surreal honestly, I forget that I am a full fledged adult now.

Episode #137 - Send Thumbs

Why is MGK Famous?

Now I know we talk about MGK a little too much on this podcast, especially for two guys that claim not to like the guy. But this past week a couple covers that Mr Gun has released previous his debut “pop punk album” became the subject of about every Tik Tok on my page. The covers in question are Numb by Linkin Park & Misery Business by Paramore. The ladder being one of the greatest pop punk songs of all time & MGK can’t sing one note in key. I mean you cannot just be releasing covers of famous songs when you are absolutely demolishing popular - dare I say classic - songs. Why is this guy famous? I feel as though we are just allowing him to piss all over the things we love & nobody is doing anything about it.

Episode #136 - 3 White Dudes Music Fest ft Taylor Simpson

Taylor Simpson is an indie/alternative folk singer songwriter from Toronto, Canada. He writes with an approach of ‘wearing his heart on his sleeves’. He really wants to connect emotionally with the listener on the themes/experiences he sings about.

Somebody Help Kanye

We recorded this weeks episode on the afternoon of the 2022 Super Bowl. Right before we started record Kayne West was having an all to familiar mental breakdown on Instagram. We do make some jokes at Kanyes expense in the episode however I want to take this space to maybe be a little more articulate than I was in the Podcast. As fun as it is to point and laugh at celebrities when they make a fool of themselves, I think the case of Kanye West is a truly interesting look at our western society. Kayne has been so clearly on a downward spiral for the better part of a decade & I don’t know if it is Kanye’s propensity to be about the most arrogant man on the planet but it doesn’t seem that he has any real friends. Kanye West is in pain & I genuinely find it heartbreaking that nobody has your back. It is hard enough to navigate this life when your aren’t famous, I could only imagine a true friend is hard to come by when you are worth Billions of dollars. I hope Kanye finds some peace with his family before somebody gets hurt.

Episode #134 - Our Time to Strike ft. False Eyed Dolls

False Eyed Dolls

False Eyed Dolls were our first guests that were not from our little Southern Ontario bubble. We first started communicating early 2021 when I was sent their single “Let’s Talk” by a buddy. We talked about that song on an episode of the podcast & the rest is history. Every time we connect i’m reminded at how amazing the internet is. Being a vocalist in a small time band it is really inspiring to speak with other artists from the other side of the planet & know they are having similar struggles. Sometimes it is tough to remember that the internet is responsible for some positive experiences such as curating a music scene that isn’t exclusive to those in close proximity to your home address.
